About me:

I graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours (BHSc 2004) and a Doctor of Medicine (MD 2007) from McMaster University. I then moved to Winnipeg where I completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Palliative Medicine at the University of Manitoba. I have been working as a palliative care physician and educator at a university teaching centre since 2011.

Outside of medicine, I am a classically trained multi-instrumentalist with a passion for producing fundraising albums. These projects have raised over $75,000 for charitable causes and have also earned several nominations in the category of ‘Instrumental Artist/Album of the Year’ from the Gospel Music Association (Canada).

Undeterred by a disabling autoimmune illness, I am now bringing my educational efforts to the YouTube platform. It is my hope that this channel will demystify palliative care for viewers as well as encourage more open communication about the dying process.

Dr. Jonathan Wong is a palliative care doctor based out of Winnipeg, Canada. He has created a new YouTube channel called Palliative Care Explained - a channel aimed at answering frequently asked questions about palliative care.
